To celebrate 20 years in bodywork i’d like to introduce you to people close to my heart, who i’ve worked with for a long time.

Let me introduce you to Lisa, who came to me 9 years ago with a back issue when pregnant. She had been recommended by a sports doctor who gave her my details and told her to give it a go.

As a keen marathon runner, a musician, and a mum of six, she has a vast network of people through all these activities.

I have seen her through ankle sprains, calf issues, hamstring tears, back injuries and tight shoulders.

Lisa says; “First person I come to with any injury or niggle, finds and sorts everything”

She has sent me 3 of her children, her husband (who usually hates massage), her musician friends, friends, neighbours, her reluctant mechanic and most recently her treasured priest.

Initially she sent a pregnant friend who she knew from orchestra. Said friend then sent her husband who is now one of my most frequent customers. This person is also a teacher so sent a teacher friend. This teacher friend has sent multiple people from her running club, becoming another of my best referrals.

It just goes to show the nature of how referrals spiral and how far reaching people’s nets are. When people are recommended they come to you with a familiar attitude and an inbuilt trust. But it’s never just about the physiological stuff. We’ve seen each other through deaths, births and marriages. She’s visited me at six different venues and we even found out together when she got off the couch that the queen had died.

Ian first came to be in 2019. He was a keen runner who is the only person who still didn’t have a mobile phone (he still doesn’t!).

He can remember any appointment time & date without writing it down.

But what amazes me most is he can recollect all the running stats of every race he has ever done, and these include – get ready for it (and these are just the big races);

  • 60 marathons
  • 95 half marathons
  • 105 10Ks

What amazes me about Ian is how he’ll do anything for anyone. He’d give you the shirt off his back (in fact he often gives me his goodie bag tshirts!). Selfless springs to mind!

I have probably been treating Claire for about a decade and a half. She initially came to me regularly for work on her back as she worked in an office so had a tight neck, shoulders and lower back.

She then sent her husband Steve who said he didn’t know what all the fuss was about pain wise, until he had treatment for a whiplash injury!

During lockdown they took up running and started doing Couch to 5K. Both of them have been going great guns, they’ve had a couple of niggles along which we’ve dealt with together.

Steve recently pulled his hamstring so we had to manage his expectations of him being the next Steve Cram!
He says; “Harriet is amazing! One treatment on my legs getting ready for Leeds half marathon knocked minutes off my previous personal best the next day. I’d recommended Morgan Sports Therapy to anyone. Brilliant at treating injuries but also general conditioning”.

Claire had a sore calf, which after we talked through how the structure of her feet could be impacting the lower leg, lead her to investing in some insoles. Some soft tissue work later and I couldn’t be more delighted to say she did her first Abbey Dash 10K race last weekend (in the soaking rain).

It just shows that people change when their habits change. This also then changes their requirements.
